Ride the wedge
What: The “Ride the Wedge” Puncheurs Invitational
When: First Sunday of each month, 7am
Where: Starting from Eltham, rambling across the shire, fanning out toward the Kinglake foothills and back.
Why: Experience and celebrate the beautiful region and roads of this unique green wedge on the bike, and share it with appreciative, like-minded suburban heroes.
The Brief: Simply put, this ride gathers the great hearts, minds and souls of Victorian cycling.
We ride through fantastic rolling terrain, punchy climbs and stop periodically to backslap, recover and re-group the peloton - all while soaking up the company, sights and roads.
It’s a no drop ride, but with specifically identified strava segments for the performance nutters among us........ and on this, the "RtW" organising committee’s expectations are that once you’ve shown everyone how awesome you are, you then allow yourself to be re-absorbed into the peloton, assuring ongoing social acceptance and event harmony :)
We return to Eltham at approximately 11.30am for a coffee and to indulge in other privileged cyclist behaviours. Group numbers and weather dependant, a midway point espresso is occasionally offered to fortunate souls.
Route: Revealed on the day, with total distance and vertical metres being tailored to suit.
Weather: It's extremely rare these rides are cancelled due to bad weather, as the parcours are generally quite resistant to inclement conditions. Plus suburban heroes are well aware the cycling adage "There's no bad weather only bad clothing".
I look forward to riding with you!
